CY Autotech Co., Ltd. has developed an AI-based process inspection software, “The Metal Process Monitoring SW,” to improve quality control and productivity in the mass production of metal additive manufacturing parts. Using process images captured by a 12-megapixel camera, the software detects key process defects such as excessive energy input, surface roughness deterioration, deformation during processing, insufficient powder spreading, and blade damage through an AI model trained on approximately 20,000 labeled defect data cases, achieving a detection performance of over 95%. In particular, it can identify quality abnormalities on metal build surfaces that were difficult to detect using conventional image-processing methods, while its compact design allows it to run on an industrial Windows PC and be integrated directly into additive manufacturing equipment for real-time inspection, reducing AI inspection time to within 1.5 seconds. Based on this technology, together with its proprietary metal 3D printers, depowdering systems, post-processing equipment, and related automation technologies, CY Autotech plans to expand its mass-production metal additive manufacturing services for the defense and automotive industries.
